Vision
Students to have the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to develop strong character (social well-being), strong mind (mental well-being) and strong bodies (physical well-being).
Approach
In line with the school’s motto, To Learn, To Love and To Lead, the Character & Citizenship Education focuses on a school-wide approach to help students
- build a strong character to know right from wrong, self-regulate, work as a team, fair, forgiving and honest
- have a sense of gratitude and appreciation to make contribution to the community
- have a resilient mindset to cope with life's ups and downs and be confident
- take responsibility for oneself and for others as appropriate
MPS strongly believes in developing students socially and morally in a Caring & Enabling School environment that is rich in the culture of care. Guided by the school’s Mission, Vision, Values, Motto and Philosophy and Strategic Thrust 2, the school-based curriculum is customised to create positive student experiences and student engagement.
This is done through both the Instructional Programmes as well as the Co-Instructional Programmes for the holistic development of the child through learning platforms such as CCE Lessons, Key SDEs, school-based initiatives, and opportunities for personal application.. The school uses the Head, Heart and Hands approach to imparting values, where the students are engaged in knowledge (head), values (heart) and skills (hands).
The school also leverages on our partnership with parents and other stakeholders towards building a strong character foundation in our students. In Meridian primary, we believe in students, staff, parents and community partners coming together to benefit the child, just like how the saying goes: “It takes a whole village to raise a child”.

Students "encourage the heart" by affirming our OSOs through the presentation of the class' gratitude board. After a week of on the job training with the OSOs during recess, the students reflect on how they can "model the way" by helping their teachers/peers in school or their family members at home. |
